How are teens verified?+
Every teen uploads their school student ID and completes a 10-minute video call with our Local team to ensure trust and compatibility. Every profile requires parent or guardian approval before going live, and only teens from Foster City, San Mateo, and Redwood City schools are accepted. IDs are never stored โ they are permanently deleted immediately after verification.
How are parents verified?+
Parents choose from three methods: uploading a government ID via Didit KYC, a short video call with our team, or an in-person meeting at the Foster City Library or Rec Center. IDs are never stored โ they are permanently deleted immediately after verification.
Are payments handled through Local?+
In Phase 1 (Foster City launch), payments are arranged directly between families and teens โ cash, Venmo, or Zelle. In-app payments are coming in Phase 2.
What ages of teens can join?+
Teens ages 14โ18 who live in or attend school in Foster City, San Mateo, or Redwood City can join. All teens under 18 require parent or guardian approval.

LOCAL is live in Foster City, San Mateo, and Redwood City (ZIP codes 94404, 94403, 94401, 94010, 94061, 94062, 94063, 94065). We grow slowly by design โ quality and trust over scale.
What is Local's cancellation policy?+
Both teens and parents must cancel at least 24 hours in advance through the app. Late cancellations by families forfeit 50% of the session fee. No-shows by either party may result in account review.
