One day me and my family were sitting in our living room, having a conversation. I was looking for a part-time job as a teenager and wanted to show my parents the options. As I scrolled through listings to show my parents, I quickly realized that the options that were listed for teens were slim to none, and if there were any, they weren't meaningful.
For the jobs that were listed, the problem I β and many other teens β have faced, was the verification and safety of the site and job itself. Another problem I ran into was the lack of a platform for the job offers from local family friends and neighbors for babysitting or tutoring for their kids. These are two of the many major problems not only I, but many teenagers face when finding jobs for themselves. At the same time, countless families struggle with finding reliable, enthusiastic, and committed help for their kids and daily tasks.
Suddenly I thought of an idea: what if there was a platform where teenagers could babysit, tutor, and help out younger kids and neighbors in their local neighborhood β and earn money β as well as giving families an easy, and accessible way to find trustworthy help? That's how our conversation sparked into an idea, which became a plan, and later formed into Local.
As we were brainstorming names for this platform, I thought of the word Local. The word local means "belonging or relating to a particular area or neighborhood," and since our web-app is built on the basis of helping our community and our neighborhood, why not name it Local? Our platform is built on sharing local love, with local teens, and local families all coming from our local community.
